On August 29th, 2018, USAID and the Vietnam Institute of Economics (VIE) hosted the 3rd Annual Learning Symposium in Melia Hanoi with topic “Vietnam’s Engines of Sustainable and Inclusive Economic Growth: Using Evidence to Inform Policies and Projects”.

The symposium represents a new and interactive forum for participants to share findings from evaluations, assessments, case studies, as well as innovative practices to drive Vietnam’s continued sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

The symposium was divided to 3 main topics: (1) Promoting productivity that protects the environment; (2) Producing a more inclusive labor force; (3) Scaling-up innovation and science and technology as a source of growth. The symposium want to share to all participants current information related to fostering Vietnam’s continued sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Besides, this symposium also help to foster relationships and connections between the development community, Government of Vietnam, and private sector to develop and implement more effective economic growth intervention; and raise the capacity of development and policy practitioners to monitor and evaluate activities and interventions aimed at helping Vietnam transition to “upper-middle income country” status by 2035.

With 10 presentations and panel discussions from national and international experts, the symposium showed the close linkage between research findings and policy analysis related to Vietnam’s engines for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
